Quiet Hospitality: The Case Against Loud UI
In hospitality, notifications and nudges lower satisfaction. Guests reward hosts who are present when needed and invisible when not — silence, well-designed, is a feature.

Notifications are not hospitality
A hotel concierge does not tap you on the shoulder to remind you about the pool hours. They wait to be asked. Software has forgotten this. Guest portals that push, ping and prompt lower satisfaction even when the underlying content is helpful.
What to remove
Every badge, every unread count, every 'you might also like' — remove them all. The guidebook is a reference, not a feed. Guests should be able to open it, find the answer and close it without residue.
